Buzău ([BUˈZəW] (? It is the most populous capital and city of the homonym district of Buzău, in the historical region of Valaquia. It is located near the right shore of the Buzău River, between the southern curvature of the Cárpatos Montes and the lowlands of the Bărăgan plain.
The oldest registration of the city name appears in 376 A.D., when it was mentioned in a letter that spoke about the martyrdom of Sava el Godo. During the Middle Ages, BuzĂu was an important city in the market of Valaquia and episcopal headquarters of the Eastern Orthodox Church. He faced a period of repeated destruction during the seventeenth and eighteenth century, and today is symbolized in the city shield with the phoenix. These destruction are the main reason why there are no buildings prior to the 18th century in the city. Subsequently, Buzău slowly recovered to today become an important modern city in Southeast Romania.
The most important building in the historic city is the Community Palace, located in the central Plaza de Dacia. Nicolae Bălcescu boulevard connects with CRâng Park, the main recreational area of Buzău.
